Weight Loss - How to Boost Your Metabolism Naturally and Lose Weight Faster

In order to see weight loss as quickly as possible, you must take steps in order to maximize your metabolic rate. Your metabolism is basically what determines exactly how many calories you burn each day, so when this is optimized, you'll be able to lose fat as quickly as possible.

On top of this, the higher your metabolic rate is, the more food you will be able to eat later on while maintaining your weight.

So, as you can see, the metabolism plays a very vital role in the results you get with any weight loss diet program.

That said, there are certain ways you can naturally boost the metabolism, thus speeding your fat loss along.

Here's what you need to know.

Eat More Protein

Protein is a very 'calorically expensive' nutrient to digest, meaning that for every gram of protein you take in, you'll burn off more calories just digesting it than if you would have taken in fat or carbohydrates.

Those who consume high protein diets therefore typically see a slightly greater edge when it comes to their metabolic rate. Obviously you can take this too far though - an all protein diet is not a good thing, but bumping that protein up slightly could mean the difference between 5 pounds lost over two months
and 6.

Add Heavy Weight Lifting

You likely already know that a regular weight training program will boost your metabolism. What's more though is that the heavier those weights are, the more calories you will burn.

Why?

Essentially when you are lifting very heavy, you're creating smaller microtears in the body - microtears that then need to be repaired, which is an energy costly process in itself.

So, next time you're in the gym, focus on bumping that weight up as high as you can while still maintaining proper form.

It really will produce the weight loss results you're looking for.

Drink Caffeine

Now, some of you will have an intolerance to caffeine and should skip this step, but studies have shown that caffeine does influence the metabolic rate and can be beneficial for fat loss. Keep in mind with this you can definitely take it too far as well though.

Monitor your caffeine intake regularly and make sure it's not giving you negative side effects such as extreme fatigue, jitteriness, or an irregular heartbeat. Also, if you have any pre-existing health concerns, you should always speak to your doctor before taking any type of stimulants.

Decrease Total Rest Time

Finally, the last way to boost your metabolism naturally is to decrease the total rest time that's taken in between each weight lifting set you do.

For example, if you typically take 60 seconds rest, next workout, try for 45 seconds.

Gradually reduce this down until you're using 30 seconds or less.
